LAUNCESTON CAR HIRE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Drivers must be between 25 and 75 years of age and able to produce a full, valid, British or international driving licence held for at least one year. All International hirers must provide a readable unexpired licence from their country of origin, If the license is not in English, an international driving license must be provided also. It is the driver's responsibility to ensure that he/she has the appropriate driving licence. Our reservations agent must be informed of any endorsements on the driver's licence, as we may not be able to take your booking. No refunds will be given for rentals rejected due to non-production of a driving licence or non-disclosed endorsements. Please note that if you have a photo card driving licence you will need to take the paper counterpart with you. All UK residents must be able to produce a recent utility bill or bank statement dated within the last 3 months and a valid credit, switch or debit card in the names of the hirers. International hirers must be able to produce a passport and valid credit card in the name of the main hirer.
All additional drivers must be present at the time of hiring and must be able to produce a full valid driving licence conforming to the stipulations above.
Travel outside of the UK
We do offer cover for customers to take vehicles outside of Mainland Britain at an additional cost, however due to Insurance restrictions a minimum age of 30 is required for drivers in vehicles travelling outside this area. Personal accident insurance. Fuel is paid locally. Additional driver requirements should be notified and paid for at the time of booking. Delivery and collection of your car can be arranged, but there may be subject to an additional cost. Also excluded are out of hour's charges, optional extras such as child seats (which must be requested at the time of booking)
There are restrictions imposed by our insurer, which mean that we are unfortunately unable to hire to persons in certain occupational areas. These include professional entertainers, professional sports persons, publicans, nightclub owners, owners of gaming establishments, members of the foreign military and students.
All clients must produce a valid credit, switch or debit card in the names of the hirers upon collection of the vehicle as a form of deposit. Cheque deposits are not accepted.
For standard vehicles, the insurance excess is £500.00. This excess is not taken in the form of a deposit, we will simply take a credit card imprint and ask that you give authorisation that, in the unlikely event of an accident, we may charge your card for the appropriate amount.
Provision of Vehicles
Please note that we can refuse to provide a vehicle to any customer who is, in our opinion, unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances your contract with us will terminate immediately, and Launceston Car Hire will have no further liability to you.
Number of passengers
Our rental vehicles are insured for a maximum number of passengers. Launceston Car Hire cannot accept responsibility if the vehicle is not large enough to fit all passengers and luggage on arrival if details were not supplied at the time of booking.
Car type / suitability
Launceston Car Hire is unable to guarantee a particular make or model of car. The car shown is for guidance only and may be substituted for an alternative, similar or upgraded car (at no extra cost). If you are dissatisfied in any way with the standard of the car, you must advise us immediately in writing within 30 days of your return. The Company cannot accept liability where this procedure is not followed. Launceston Car Hire are constantly updating our fleet, therefore we may hold two different models of the same vehicle including an older shape if the manufacturer has recently updated the look of the vehicle. Launceston Car Hire is unable to guarantee which shape of vehicle you will receive. We are also unable to guarantee the type of fuel your vehicle will use ahead of time.
Mechanical difficulties / accidents
In the event of any mechanical difficulties or accidents involving your car, it is important that details are reported to us within 24 hours. You must also complete an accident form by the end of the rental period. Local police should also be notified in the case of accidents and a signed police report obtained. Full details of third parties should also be obtained. You should retain copies of all rental documentation in the event an insurance company is involved. A checkout form must be signed on return of the vehicle. Failure to do so may delay the investigation of disputes regarding insurance excess charges.
Any vehicle movement into, out of or within the marked charging zone ("CCZ") between 07:00hrs and 18:30hrs (Monday to Friday), is chargeable at the rate of £8 per day. Only one payment per vehicle, per day is required, once the first payment is made, any number of journeys may be made that day into, out of or within the CCZ, by that vehicle. The payment of £8 must be made by 22:00hrs on the day the movement was made; otherwise the charge rises to £10. If that is not paid before midnight, a Penalty Charge Notice will be issued in the sum of £120 (discounted to £60 if paid within 14 days). If the charge is not paid within 28 days, the charge rises to £150. Further details may be obtained from Transport for London's website: www.cclondon.com.
You must pay for any vehicle movement into, out of or within the CCZ, When you pay the charge, you will be given a receipt / transaction number for the payment. Please retain this number as you will need it in case of a dispute between you and Transport for London ("TfL") You can pay by phone, text, Internet, or pay - point, but you must pay on the day you used the CCZ. If you fail to pay, TfL will send you a Penalty Charge Notice. It is your responsibility to pay this Penalty Charge. If you fail to pay the charge on the day you used the CCZ, you will also be charged an Administration Fee by us.
If you have a problem during you rental, please inform us immediately so that we can endeavour to put things right. Launceston Car Hire will not hold themselves responsible for the non-performance of anything that is beyond their control or when they are not notified of a problem at the point when remedial action can be taken. In the unlikely event that a complaint cannot be resolved at the time, you should write to our Customer Services Department within 30 days of the issue arising. If you fail to take any of these steps this will hinder our ability to put any problem right and/or investigate it fully.
Additional Drivers are charged at £40 per driver per week or £10 per day for hires of less than 7 days. This is capped at 2 weeks and any further weeks additional driver cover is free. If you require additional drivers, they must be present at the time of hiring and are subject to the same restrictions as the main driver. Charges for additional drivers are payable locally on arrival.
Rental Charges are seasonal and may be subject to change without prior notice. All reservations received prior to a pricing change will obviously be honoured at their original rate.
The renter is responsible for any damage to the roof or upper part of the vehicle caused by hitting low objects, such as bridges or branches. This applies irrespective of whether or not renter has opted for CDW
Renter must not let anyone work on the vehicle without our written permission
Damage to the vehicle includes glass and tyres damage, water and flood damage.
Renter will have to pay for repairs if the vehicle needs more than a standard valet or if the vehicle has been damaged either inside or outside (whether or not its renters fault)
All payments must be made by a credit, switch or debit card
Deposits may be required to secure your booking.
We do not accept cash or cheque payments.
Cancellations / Amendments
All cancellations must be submitted in writing or by calling +44 1566 774848 prior to the date of collection. Failure to do so will result in a "No Show" and no refund will be given in this case. Launceston Car Hire will not refund any unused rental days.
Delivery and collection are sometimes possible upon request and require a minimum of 3 days rental - Full address including postal code and a contact number are required. Delivery and collection times are not confirmed at the time of booking, only AM or PM. You must contact the relevant branch to confirm times at least 24 hours prior to the start date
All vehicles are provided on a ‘full tank’ basis. If vehicles require refuelling by us on your return then you will be charged £1.75 pence per litre.
An Administration Charge of £40 will be levied per parking offence plus the excess Parking Charge (where necessary), any Penalty Charges for Speeding/Road traffic Offences (Including Bus Lane Offences & London Congestion Charges) and any other Traffic Infringement charges.
The renter is responsible for the vehicle and key and has a duty of care to maintain the vehicle whilst on hire to them and must, by law, be kept in a road worthy condition. The vehicle must be kept locked and any security device fitted to the vehicle must be used when the vehicle is not being used. All engine fluids must be checked before use and topped up if required. Lights, wipers and tyre condition should also be checked prior to use and replaced if not in a road worthy condition (like for like)
The vehicle must be returned to the location agreed by the rental office. If you choose to return the vehicle outside of office hours, you remain responsible for the vehicle until the vehicle can be checked by a member of staff. The renter is liable for any charges incurred up to this time.
Ending this agreement
We will end this agreement if we find out that your belongings have been taken away from you to pay off your debts, or a receiving order has been made against you. We may end this agreement if you do not meet its main conditions.
If you are a company, we will end this agreement if: You go into liquidation. You call a meeting of creditors. We find out that your goods have been taken away from you unitl you pay off your debts; or You do not meet any of the conditions of this agreement.
If we end this agreement it will not affect our right to receive any amount you owe us under the conditions of this agreement. We can also claim reasonable costs from you if you do not meet the main conditions of this agreement. We can repossess the vehicle and charge you a reasonable amount for doing so.
All bookings by our clients are subject to our terms and conditions as detailed on the Rental Agreement. No other terms, conditions and warranties, expressed or implied by law, custom and course of dealing shall form part of any contract between Launceston Car Hire and our clients except for those terms implied by law whose application is mandatory. The client acknowledges that in making a booking with us it does so only on the basis of the material contained in this document. All other statements or representations made by us, its employees, or agents are of no effect unless confirmed by us to the client in writing. You should satisfy yourself that you understand and agree to its terms and conditions as you will be subject to, and must comply with these terms. Launceston Car Hire’s liability to the client for any loss, damage, injury or accident whatsoever, whether arising out of negligence, breach of contract or any other cause shall not exceed £2000 or twice the invoiced price of rental of the vehicle concerned (whichever is greater) provided that nothing in this clause shall limit Launceston Car Hire’s liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer. Launceston Car Hire will not be held responsible for anyone driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, causing wilful damage, off road driving or driving without due care and attention. The client will indemnify Launceston Car Hire against this in respect of such claims this list is not exclusive.
